    Super Duplex 2507 Wire and Welding Wire, UNS S32750 (ER2594 / ER2553)

Super Duplex 2507 wire in UNS S32750 (EN 1.4410) covers two distinct product families. The first is solid-core welding consumable wire classified ER2594 (overmatching) or ER2553 (matching) per AWS A5.9, used to weld 2507 pipe, plate, fittings and forgings. The second is cold-drawn spring and mesh wire for filter screens, springs and small fasteners. TorqBolt supplies both from the Mumbai warehouse with EN 10204 Type 3.1 certificates and AWS A5.9 conformance for the welding family.

Welding wire follows AWS A5.9 / ASME SFA-5.9 for stainless steel solid wire. Cold-drawn 2507 wire follows ASTM A479 chemistry. Sour-service certification per NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156-3 is available on the cold-drawn wire family.

Super Duplex 2507 Welding Wire Chemistry per AWS A5.9

ER2594 chemistry overmatches the 2507 base metal (slightly higher Cr and Ni for PREN about 43). ER2553 matches the 2507 base.

    Welding Practice with 2594 / 2553

    • Heat input 0.5 to 2.5 kJ per millimetre. Interpass below 150 degrees Celsius. Both control sigma-phase precipitation in the weld and HAZ.
    • Argon plus 2 to 5 percent nitrogen shielding for GTAW root and hot pass to support the nitrogen in the weld pool. Pure argon for fill passes.
    • ER2594 is the default for ASTM A790 / A815 / A182 F53 and NORSOK M-601 acceptance. ER2553 matches the 2507 base but undermatches PREN slightly.
    • WPS qualified per ASME IX with super duplex acceptance per NORSOK M-601 (ferrite count, Charpy at minus 46 C, G48 pitting on weld and HAZ).
    • For root passes on pipe without backing gas, use a soluble paper dam plus argon nitrogen purge to maintain pitting resistance at the inside surface.

    Super Duplex 2507 Wire Applications

    • Field welding of 2507 and 2205 duplex pipe, plate, fittings and forgings
    • Shop fabrication of pump casings, valve bodies and pressure vessels
    • Subsea structural fabrication and pipeline tie-in welds
    • Cold-drawn fine wire for filter mesh, springs and small fasteners
    • Submerged-arc welding of heavy-wall vessels with 2594 reel wire

    Super Duplex 2507 Wire FAQ

ER2594 or ER2553, which filler do I use?

ER2594 is the default for super duplex 2507 (S32750) and Zeron 100 (S32760). It overmatches the base metal for PREN and is the standard NORSOK M-601 filler. ER2553 matches the 2507 base chemistry but contains intentional copper (1.5 to 2.5 percent), so it is more often paired with copper-bearing super duplex Ferralium 255 (S32550) or Zeron 100 (S32760).

Why nitrogen in the shielding gas?

Nitrogen burns out of the weld pool during arc welding. Adding 2 to 5 percent nitrogen to the argon shielding replaces what is lost and keeps the weld ferrite count inside the 35 to 65 percent acceptance band per NORSOK M-630 and ASTM A923. Without nitrogen the weld becomes ferrite-heavy and pitting performance drops.

What is the maximum heat input for 2507 welding?

2.5 kJ per millimetre is the upper limit per NORSOK M-601 and most operator specifications. Higher heat input slows cooling through the 1000 to 600 degrees Celsius window and allows sigma-phase precipitation, which destroys Charpy toughness and pitting resistance.

    Does ER2594 contain copper?

Only as residual (0.75 max per AWS A5.9). It is not an intentional alloying element. ER2553 by contrast contains 1.5 to 2.5 percent intentional copper to match copper-bearing base metals such as Ferralium 255.

What spool sizes does TorqBolt stock?

15 kg standard plastic spools for GMAW. 250 kg drum spools for high-volume robotic welding. 5 kg tubes of 1000 mm cut-length GTAW rod (1.6 / 2.0 / 2.4 / 3.2 mm). SAW reel wire 25 kg or 250 kg drum.

    Is the cold-drawn 2507 wire NACE-compliant?

Yes, when ordered with NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156-3 certification: 28 HRC max hardness and ferrite within the 35 to 65 percent band. Cold-drawn wire is solution-annealed and water-quenched at the final size; heavy cold work for spring temper requires a separate qualification path.
